"Warmer" weather painting outside

Today's paint-out took us to Jay Cooke State Park. The sun was shining and the temperature was in the 20's, above. It is a beautiful park, so many paintings. But we had only the day, so we painted at two spots.

Out and painting!

I don't know why, but we seem to get together to paint frequently in the winter. Is that because we're in Minnesota? Here the four seasons are "winter is coming, winter, still winter, road construction". We hardly ever paint "road construction", but barns make great subjects in every season!

AZ Gallery Opening Oct 2008

We toted the paintings from northern Minnesota to a more southern town. Crossings Gallery is a fabulous and active gallery in Zumbrota. The paintings again received rave reviews from the viewers attending the opening. 

The exhibit moves next to AZ Gallery , 308 Prince Street, St. Paul, MN 651-224-3757. The exhibit runs September 12-October 5. Reception Friday October 3. Make time to see these beautiful paintings! We'd love to see you at the reception.

Johnson Heritage Post Art Gallery Reception 2008

At the reception 

The Johnson Heritage Post is a log building housing an art gallery. The warm wood walls were a perfect backdrop for a beautiful exhibit. Reception attendees were very excited about the work. People seemed especially interested in the fact that the paintings were painted outside, and in all seasons and weather. The artists are pleased to see the work displayed together after all their hard work.

We had out first spring paint-out this weekend. Everything was so green! It was quite a change of palette colors for us, and we had some difficulty focusing in on a subject. Green trees, green plants, green, green, green! Here's our easels set up for painting. The paintings are not finished, but even at this stage it is interesting to see that they are the same, but different.
